Gentlemen,
I am directed by the Secretary of State to instruct you to see from Hongkong Treasury, as it may become due, a Pension at the rate of £75-11-1 per annum, from the 8 October last to Mr. Joseph Thornton late First Clerk in Storekeeper's Department in that Colony.

I conclude the pension is to date from day of division. Thornton was allowed 4 months leave with half Salary to be extended if necessary until his claims to pension had been determined
