I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of Ultimo on the subject of Furniture for the Government at Hongkong.
My Lords concur with the Secretary of State that the expenditure not exceeding £1500 on Furniture for the Private Rooms should be approved.
With regard to the other suggestions made in the Governor's Despatch, my Lords agree with the Junon expressed by the Secretary of State that the cost of furnishing Houses for distinguished persons should ...
