I have the honor to acknowledge

the receipt of your letter of the 20th ultimo, conveying to the Crown

Agents the decided disapproval

of Earl Granville of their conduct with regard to the Execution of an

order for Engines and Boiler for

the Steam Vessel "Victoria"

belonging to the Government of Hong Kong.

2. Nothing

can be further from the intentions of the Crown Agents than to do anything whatever calculated to forfeit so valuable his Lordship's good opinion, and

it is therefore with peculiar pain that they receive this
