in the drawing accompanying the Requisition & that if Mandlay's Machinery had
been sent out it would have also occupied the same space; their Boiler would have extended to within 3 or 4
inches
of
the same height
above the deck - cut off the
same number
For
ber
of
deck beams
the boiler, (and an additional
one for the engine hatch) and
therefore any
objection made by lengthening the vessel is
quite irrespective of
any
peculiarity of arrangement or proportion of the Vessels & Boiler
as compared with those by Messrs Mandlay.
In conclusion I am
at a
loss to understand what could be done for the better had the same Requisition to be again
acted upon - Three London Machinery Experts
were supplied
with a copy of the Requisition & Drawing of the vessel - they all sent their own plans from these particulars only – all their Boilers protruded about the same height above the
deck.
