think would be objectionable - in fact no cabin should be constructed over the Boiler - a cool house may probably be made, partially over the forward part of the casing (if required, as it could be removed).
I do not see any necessity to lengthen the ship owing to any peculiarity in the design or proportion of the Engine and Boiler as compared with other designs entrusted to you; it will involve cutting several pipes to place the Engines & Boiler further apart - the lengthening of a wooden Vessel is never a satisfactory affair when executed, while it is very costly.
Had there been other 5 or 6 feet available on the plan sent with the Requisition for the machinery it would have been an advantage to the Engine and Boilers in a tropical climate, but letting the space shown as available on the drawing of the Engines now sent being placed athwartships gives the greatest ...
