REPORT AND ESTIMATE No. 34

OF 1869.

(Art. of Instructions, No. 38.)

dated 17th November

1869.

OFFICE OF SURVEYOR GENERAL

ESTIMATE OF THE EXPENSE NECESSARY TO BE INCURRED FOR

Repairs to Roads out of Victoria.

PLAN OR DESCRIPTION, PARTICULARS. LABOUR, MATERIALS PURCHASED. MATERIALS TO BE OBTAINED FROM STONES, PORTION OF WORK TO BE PERFORMED BY CONTRACT. C. TOTAL. $ $ $ $ $ 1850 350 350 A Police Station 400 $50 TVCOTE

The sum of $3000 placed upon the Colonial Estimates for the service of Repairs to Roads out of Victoria for this current year has proved inadequate owing principally to extensive repairs to the Settlement Road, the Road round the Race Course and the Causeway Road having been executed than were in the first instance contemplated. Since the above sum was sanctioned, it has been found necessary to repair the road from Little Hong Kong through Stanley and Ty tam to Tenkaran for Police purposes and this alone will have incurred an increased Expenditure of $2250. Repairs and improvements are also in course of progress to the

Sentiran Road. The extra sum of $400 for the Road to No. 7 Police Station is urgently required for the repairs. The Road is in a dangerous state at some points with the surface cropping up and as this is a main thoroughfare, I do not think the work should be longer delayed. I therefore estimate this expenditure for the remainder of this year at $3,300.
