It would be a most serious thing for this Community, of
circumstance Was to deprive it of the great benefits of M. Panneefoles services, as he is a hard working and accomplished
Cawyer, as well as a thorough Gentleman in time and Sense of duty.
His mere presence therefore in the Colony does in some tight degree Counterbalance the mischief resulting in the Opinion of the legal profession and of the Several Public from the appointment of Mr. Smale.
As the latter is past seventy years of age and has manifestly become Unfitted for the suitable discharge of his duties, we would learn Satisfaction, as Chief Justice I with great interest, as a matter in which this peace and Character of the Colony is seriously Concerned that His Government had insisted on his retiring with such pension As his length of service entitled him to claim.
However that may be, I believe that any Colony, to which Mr. Panncepoole might be appointed Chief Justice, would have reason to Congratulate itself on obtaining the services of so high minded and efficient Public servant.
I have the honor to be Your Lordship's most obedient humble Servant,
Kuhaird Raves Mardommell
