Ordinance N. 9 of 1869
is a short Ordinance passed
for the purpose of putting
an end to questions which
were constantly raised
about claims for Interest under Ordinance
of 1867, and also to simplify the proceedings for the Recovery by the Crown of small claims for Rent and for Rates under various Ordinances.
The principal feature in the Ordinance is that it enables the Colonial Treasurer to
sue in his official capacity, and in the
same manner as
any private suitor,
except that he
may prove
