believe the community at large is profoundly indifferent on the latter subject - certainly do not believe that the best informed opinion here, which I am quite
sure is not that represented by the Press,
such direct popular
believes in
any
representation as being either practicable
or desirable.

It
Referring in vain that a File
was formed, an Association was founded here to urge on such changes. It has died out through
yet it would be
sheer inanition, and
a great mistake to suppose this Community
apathetic in any matter, which it really
regarded as important, or in which it
had
reason
to
feel
with injustice.
I suppose
it was treated

if I express an opinion

that under the
special circumstances of this Colony, and
having regard to the singular Constituent
elements of its population and the
