With reference to a minute to which that Trinx is available for military purposes, Lt. Col. Williams, Commanding Officer of the European Regiment, states that he has suspended Bird from duty pending investigation.

Kaye, D., with whose permission this has been done, will not be but endeavour to inquire into this matter.

[The fact is that when the Regiment was last re-armed, it was difficult to get recruits. Verbal instructions were given to Storm Police – in part the Union attacked Khan.]

I have the honor to lay before H.E. the Governor the following report on the composition of the European Police Force with a view to the consideration of the expediency of enlisting "thirty Constables in England, or Ireland.

The present number of

15 Sergeants (including Acting Sergeants)

and 80 European Constables is divided as follows:

In the Outstations 4 Sergt. 35 Villages The Water Police employ 3 Sergt. 22 Constables The City of Victoria 8 Sergt. 48 Constables

are posted, and 10 Constables are nominally distributed.
