With reference to your
letters of the 28th August and the 18th September on the subject
of the inconvenience arising from the practice of firing guns upon the Parade ground at
Hongkong as directed by Lord Granville to transmit to you for the information of the Secretary Cardwell
a copy of a further despatch from Sir R. MacDonnell with its second enclosure.
I am to add that Lord Granville considers the matter disposed of by General
Forster's letter of the 13th September
