I have before me Your Excellency's
despatch M: 323 of the 29th June
in which
you
state that a petition had
been addressed to
you by the Portuguese
Inhabitants of Wongtong: praying that action be taken in respect of the
English Laws relating to defamatory libel, by which Your Excellency desires to be informed of the Laws upon the same subject in this Colony.
