I trust that the good understanding, prudence, and the sound discretion which Your Excellency knows well how to exert, guarantees which shall be obtained all the success upon applications for extradition, and prevent obstacles which may retard or frustrate its realization.

When the Corvette "João da Bandeira" left this for Timor, a Chinese named Sam Ho Lim, convicted of Piracy and Murder, and when being conveyed on board of that vessel to undergo the sentence of the Court, succeeded in making his escape.
I understand now that the said Chinese is at present domiciled at Hong Kong, and therefore I beg to introduce to Your Excellency Leint. Corte Real of the Macao Police, who is accompanied by Mr. ... , who is charged with the duty of arresting the said Chinaman.
