I however hope to be able if allowed to leave on the 22nd of November instant to return on the 3rd.

My mental state is more depressed than it was and I feel that no voyage however lengthened would restore it in the East.

The four reasons enumerated in my letter of the 21st of March continue - one, the main reason for my voyage... unwillingly points to which I must anxiously wish to be present at the deposit of the coffin containing my late Wife's mortal remains in their last resting place in England.

The coffin is to be in the vessel which is engaged to be in the Thames on the 4th of September. I now ask the renewal of the leave which this Council was pleased to give for not exceeding 5 months from the 22nd instant. I should then in all probability be in London before the 5th of September, only just in time for the main object I have in view in going home.

I hope however to be able to return by the 3rd of November next, except for the above purpose and for the four objects enumerated in my letter of the 31st of March last, especially to see my sons, one of whom...
