PORTION OF WORK TO BE PERFORMED BY CONTRACT.

The site granted for the New Chinese Hospital is situated immediately behind Possession Point, and will in fact be formed by cutting away a part of what was formerly called Possession Point Hill. The area granted measures 210 feet by 150 feet, a portion of which will have to be cut down to a depth of 50 or 60 feet, while the South and West sides must be sloped to an angle of about 30°. The earth removed will, as far as possible, be used for the Reclamation now going on West of the Harbor Master's Office, but the greater portion will have to be removed in boats to West Point or elsewhere.

The cost of cutting down the Hill, including blasting what stone may be met with, is estimated at $3000, provision for which expenditure will be provided in the Supplementary Estimates.
