month's leave grantable on half salary,

and I have the honor to request that His Excellency the Governor will grant permission to avail myself of it.

I want to stay here if possible fortnight longer in order to finish the last year's accounts and to submit the altered Supplementary Estimates,

and I should therefore like to have my leave.

4. Maximum amount of Leave authorized by Regulations in respect of the above period of Resident Service (viz., 4 of Resident Service + Six Months)

5. Leave on Half Salary already taken, since first arrival in the Colony

6. Leave now granted

N.B.—Officers who may be under the necessity of applying to the Secretary of State for an extension of their leave of absence, are requested to name their successor to their applications, and in order to meet this contingency, it will be furnished to them in duplicate.

This is exclusive of the five Months granted, on account of service rendered at the Outland Islands. The absence is shown in the 2nd entry but the leave cannot be counted as against Hongkong service.
