Colonial Surgeons Office,
Hong Kong, 8th June, 1889.

Ms. W. A. Pennie having only lately

recovered from

a severe attack of pneumonia, followed by the passage of a renal calculus, accompanied

by inflammation of the intestines, which has left him much weakened, I am of opinion that he should proceed to Europe without delay, spend a considerable time there and leave the question of a return to the Colony dependent on his entire restoration to perfect health.
