First appointed in Feb 1859 to the Audit Staff of this Colony, from which port he has risen to that of Junior Auditor and for some time past has ably led.

He was selected as special Commissioner in the County Maurition Railway Matter in 1867 and forth in recognition, the valuable services he rendered to the Colony in that capacity during the War a Sum of £300 was voted by the Legislative Council. Commissioner of Mint.

From the high estimation in which Deputy Auditor is held by his superiors & from the knowledge of his great aptitude for business which is possessed in this dept I confidently anticipate that he will be found fully competent for the higher Office to which I have promoted him.
