I enclose a detailed opinion on that Subject : - I also enclose a copy of private letter which I thought it my duty to address to the Chief Justice who in consequence of it came to Court at 12 o'clock and tried the first case, and adjourned the Sessions to next Tuesday.

Enclosure

I now beg to lay my resignation of the Acting judgeship of the Court of Summary Jurisdiction in the hands of His Excellency the Governor, much regretting that the unexpected attitude and action of the Chief Justice has compelled me to take this course.

I have the honor to be

Sir,

Your obedient Servant,

Julian Pauncefote
