Paragraph J. Two cases occurred, one of an American named Yancey, residing at British Harbour, the other of a Tunkley at Victoria Gaol. In the first case it transpired that 9 persons had been engaged in the burglarious attack that resulted in Yancey's murder; of these two were arrested and acquitted.
The point of Law raised by the Counsel for the defence was that the words "Your statement will be taken down in writing and may be used against you" had not been used when the prisoners were cautioned.
