The correspondence that has passed, has been sent to the Commodore for perusal, and that Officer, concurring in the views

of the Major General and considering that

to a certain extent the Naval and Military

interests in this matter

are

identical, has

also communicated his intention of also communicating thereon with the Lords Commissioners of

the Admiralty.

As much time has been unavoidably lost in discussing this question Major General Bunker is unwilling that its transmission home, should be delayed beyond the outgoing Mail, and I shall

be much obliged, should His Excellency the Governor wish to forward any further remarks to the Major General, if you

will favor me with the same at your

earliest convenience:
