To His Excellency the Governor

I should report whether it would be advisable to continue to draw the Colonial supplies from the Stationery Office.

It does not appear that the Messrs Deakin to whom were sent out samples ever did so, but by the last Mail I received the invoice of a supply of Stationery newly sent out by the Stationery Office.

This last shipment is of very fair quality and the prices charged sufficiently moderate, and if the Stationery Office will continue to supply in the same manner, I see no reason for seeking change.

I enclose specimens of the paper sent out now with their prices compared with those of last year, showing that in these, the principal articles of consumption, the reduction in price is very great, whilst at the same time the material is improved. In the Envelopes and small stores there is no particular change, but it was only with regard to the price of the paper that a reclamation was deemed necessary.

I have the honor to be Your most obedient servant,

John Auditor General
