I have to alter this statement,
for although I have done everything in my power and had the constant attention and advice of Dr Grenfell Margesson to facilitate my recovery it would now appear uncertain as to the probable time, at which I may be in a fit state to proceed to Hong Kong and resume my duties. As my present leave expires on 25 July next
I have not on this occasion forwarded a Certificate from my Medical attendant hoping that such unfortunate cases as mine are provided for and that I may be submitted to the inspection of any such officer who may be attached to the Department.

I shall feel it my anxious duty to present myself at the Colonial Office at the earliest possible opportunity, at which I may be equal to do so.
