and be able to stay in a month or six weeks, I shall most probably be obliged to go to one of the German Baths before proceeding to England.

Under the circumstances I have mentioned, I have deemed it advisable to regulate the matter foresaid to You the enclosed documents from the Hong Kong Government, rather than await the arrival in England to deliver them in person, according to the usual license.

The enclosures herein are.

1st Despatch to this Right Honorable Lord the Duke of Buckingham from Sir J. G. MacDonnell.

2nd Governor's certificate of leave.

3rd Copy of the Colonial Surgeon's certificate.

4th Medical certificate grounded on that of Dr. Massey and Dr. Millingen.

All despatches and letters addressed to the Duke will be forwarded to him in due course.
