In reply am to state, for the information of the Secretary of State, that, under the exceptional circumstances connected with the trade of Hong Kong, Their Lordships will not object to the extension of the time sought for by the Directors of the Hong Kong and Shanghae Banking Corporation for the payment of the remaining $2,000,000, the amount of capital not yet paid up, for a period of five years from 15th Dec? 1869, on which date the whole of the capital ought, in accordance with the terms of the Hong Kong Ordinance, No. 5 of 1866, to be paid up.
