were referred for the consideration
of the Lords Committee of the Executive Council & you for your information & guidance as to the reply which has been received from the Board of Trade.
From which you will learn that their Lordships were justified in submitting a vote to Parliament for the Mint.
These words have been adopted at the late sitting of the Legislative Council & are embodied in the last paragraph of the despatch.
It is suggested that for the purpose of maintaining the Mint, and that they are of opinion that unless the Fund is applied to this purpose, they should in the Legislature (Council & Community) press strongly to continue to experiment & to make further concessions for the pecuniary sacrifices which appear inseparable from it at the outset at least.
& that it would be undesirable to close the Establishment.
In this connection, a sheet (No. 5173) awaits transmission signalling MC.
