Colonies to alter the order in Council & May 1848 to restrict its operation to clergymen residing on the China coast of the 28th degree of North Latitude. In virtue of this alteration the Chaplains residing North of that degree of latitude, namely at Ningpo, Peking, & Shanghai, would place themselves under the jurisdiction of the proposed Bishop for North China, accordingly.
