that at the request of the Postmaster General, the directors of the Peninsular and Oriental company have been sent instructions to their Superintendent at Hong Kong to fit up proper sorting offices on board each of the mail Packets employed on the line between Bombay and Shanghai, and they have desired him to place himself in communication with the Postmaster General regarding the mode in which the sorting offices should be fitted.

As the Packets employed on the Bombay and China line are occasionally interchanged with vessels from other lines, it is not considered necessary to require the erection of sorting offices on deck, as on board the Mediterranean Packets.
