I AM directed to acknowledge the receipt of your letter No. 591, dated the 28th of October last, stating that it is proposed by His Excellency Sir Richard MacDonnell to take the first opportunity of recruiting, under Mr. Creagh's management, another body of 100 Seikhs for the Hong-kong Police, and reporting the arrangements made for carrying out the object.

2. In reply, I am directed to state that the Governor General in Council is glad to hear so good an account of the Force previously despatched from India, and readily acquiesces in the proposed arrangements.
