correspondence with the Governor of Hong Kong. Your Excellency will see that I entered very fully into the matter. The Governor's reply, however, contains remarks
on
the Viceroy
which it is unnecessary to communicate, and I shall confine myself simply to notifying the intended suspension of disarmament of native Vessels in the Hong Kong waters.
As, doubtless, Sir R. G. MacDonnell will forward this correspondence to His Excellency the Secretary of State for the Colonies,
I think it well also to send
a
copy for the information of
Her
Her Majesty's Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and I trust I shall have your approval for
doing so.
Your obedient Servant,
(signed) D.B. Robertson
H. C. Sir Rutherford Alcock K.C.B.
