With regard to those Members of the Naval Yard Police Force who
were sworn in as
they
were on
Constables under
Section 2 of Ordinana. 12 of 1844
the praping of Ordinance 19 of 1862 entitled to enter the
Police Force established by the latter Ordinance and from the language of Section 27 they would seem to have been intensted to do so.
They do not however afpear to have been swom in under Ordinance 9 of 1862, and therefore do not come within its operation,
CL0.8421.
although they remain Constables by virtue of their original appointment and swearing in. With regard to those Members
of the Naval Yard Police Force who have joined it since the Pasings Ordinance 9 of 1852, auch who do not appear to have been
sworn in under
any

whatever they have no sort of statues as Constibles- they simply Watchmen in the employ of the Naval Authorities
