ready for embarkation, they shall be conveyed to the Suferintendency, and there in Public bearing they shall be examined by the Superintendent, I who shall order the Contract to be
read over and explained to them,-

frinted copy of the same handed to each. - (1) In addition to the Officers of
the Suferintendency, there shall be present during the examination, the Procurador for Chinese Affairs, or his deputy, the Interpreters of the Chinese language appointed for this service, the Commandant of the Police, and hos Chinese Residents of acknowledged probity, whilst there be
no Consular.
