the two united do not

in rank: whilst from the peculiar position the Auliter holds of financial Comptroller over all the Departments I am unable excefit under

the advantage of acting

"pay should be considered as an extra Salary given for the performance of extra my remuneration from

the Colony should be such or nearly

I explained to Sir F. Roqero January last when applying for extension

leave what
serious pecuniary inconvenience I should suffer by a return to the Colony
at that time as some
property to which I had become entitled was in course of settlement. but the bolonial Government
apparently required my services and notwithstanding that the storeign Office would willingly have kept
me at home
