3rd. We have been put in possession of the Report of a Meeting of the Chamber of Commerce and were waited on by a deputation from that Body consisting of Messrs. HELLAND, Duscanson, Jackson, and MACAULAY, as also by Mr. KRESSER. We have also received communications from Messrs. JARDINE, MATHESON & Co., and W. C. HUNTER, Esquire, we have given every consideration to the views advocated, and have come to the conclusion that the suggestoius hereinbefore made are the fairest to the Public generally.
4th. Although it is impossible to form an exact Estimate of the Revenue that inay be produced under the altered Schedule if adopted we are of opinion that the business of the Stamp Office will be increased by the proposed modifications which, with the product of the new items will, we think, give a Revenue equal to that mentioned in the 3rd paragraph of your Letter, No. 102 of the 6th instant, viz. : $110,000.
5th. We transmit a Schedude showing the suggested alterations and additions for the convenience of
casy reference.
6th. In conclusion we beg to return the enclosures, four in mmmber, transmitted by you in your Letter, No. 102 of 6th instant.
