Immediately after the Typhoon of 1st October last itings reportin that much damage had been done to the Prayas Wail, West of Peddar's Wharf and that it was
little better than as prect as •far as Mess. Gebh. Wharf a distance of 2200 feet and between the Harbor Master's Office und Centre Street a distance of 2500 feet. The Cost of taking down, and building the Old Wall on these sections, making use of such of the old Stone as

estimated at $94.000 while the Cool estimuus of building
a new dea Wall capable of resisting a Typhoon, at $ 135,000. This estimate horrever did not include a lingth of 1050 feet between M Lots 37A and 200 a part of the Harbor opposite which it was last year proposed to reclaim at the expense of the Tenants, scheme which has since been given up. The total cost for would therefore be $ 187,500. between Seddai's Wharf and Centre Strat exclusive of a section between the Harbor Master's Office and M Lot 37 v. Contract for which has just been arranged; at a Cost of # 68.700, the greater portion of which sum has to be paid by the Tenants.

At the present time it is proposed only to peet the Sea Wall in the same state of repair in which it was before the severe Typhoons of last year.
These repairs
are shown in detail in the accompanying Estimate 755 feet him: of Sea Wall has to be entirely rebuilt and will be constructed in the same mannev as the Sea Wall latily completed between Wardley Street and the Government Wharf, the remainder,
