W James Hackett, Surgeon of the J. J. Ajax to the Registrar General of Seamen - "Dated respectively the 22" Sept. 9th Vet and, 3rd October 8 by
The Six Seamen whose names are mentined in the annexed Certificates
came on board the S. I. Ajax" of which I am Medical Officer, at Hong Kong. They were placed on board contrary to my remonstrance and that of the Captain
and were not fit subjects to be carried in any thip which had not a regular Hospital on board. These Men required
my constant allendance and were
