out that such leave should not have exceeded six months, in as much the Applicant had only three years and three months service under the Colonial Government.
I would call attention to page 121 of the new edition of the Colonial Regulations, where Your Grace will perceive that an Officer proceeding home on sick leave is entitled to one sixth of his resident service plus six months.*
3. Mr Bird's case came under this category, for he had served three years, three months and nine days only.
I agreed with the granting him a year's leave which was sixteen days less than the leave grantable.
4. I lose no time in acquainting Your Grace with the reasons for sanctioning the leave in question, that I may have certainty as to the rule by which, on further consideration, Your Grace may wish me to guide myself under similar circumstances.
