in which Captain Carey occupies a house in Mosque Terrace is entirely set apart as his private residence, - though the rent is paid by Government,
There seems no doubt that the house is one of the most suitable that could be procured, and such as he is entitled to expect should be rented for him, holding the position of the Officer Commanding Royal Artillery in China and Japan.
No portion however of this house is used as an Office, as he has an Office in Murray-Barracks a mile distant from Mosque Terrace.
The house in the latter place is wholly occupied by the family of Captain Carey, which numbering I believe, six in all, Mrs Carey and the Children being for the present in Hong Kong.
I have the honor to be,
My Lord Duke, Your Grace's Most Obedient,
humble Servant,
