The Minutes of the Council held on the 32 August, are read and confirmed.

His Excellency then informs the Council that, since the last Meeting, the remainder of the Dies and Plates for bringing into operation the Stamp Ordinance had been received. The implements arrived here on the 16th July last by the "Thales", and remained unnoticed in the Godowns of the Consignees of the Steamer until the 4th Instant when the Executive was accidentally informed of their existence in the Colony. Free Rooms in the Job Office Building, (which from its situation in the most central part of the City would be highly convenient for the Public), are being fitted up for a temporary Office and it is hoped that all the necessary arrangements will be completed in the course of a few days.

His Excellency further states that Mr. Mitchell, the Postmaster General, has been provisionally appointed to take charge of the Stamp Office, and it is His Excellency's intention to have the ...
