I have the honour to enclose statement of the remittances which I have caused to be sent from here. It would appear, at least so far as can be ascertained here up to this date, that instead of the Colony being indebted to the Treasury or the Crown Agents, there should be a balance of about £1800 in favour of this Government. In that calculation the Military Contribution is excluded from consideration, because I am aware there is at present no possibility of providing for it.
I have drawn on the Crown Agents in favour of the Treasury "Bill at 30 days' sight by this Mail, which will be available for all payments on account of the Colony, excepting, of course, the Military Contribution; and I trust this sum may suffice till the end of the year.
I have, however, desired a further sum of £3,500 to be sent.
I have the honour to be, My Lord Duke, Your Grace's most obedient, humble servant,
Frances McDonnell
Governor.
