Between the 7th instant. It appears that they had been landed three days previously from the "Thales", which arrived on the 16th July last, consigned to Messrs Gibb Livingston & Co. in whose godowns the cases had been placed.

And I would point out that in the present case there is no doubt that the Colony has suffered severely a loss of probably $8,000 Revenue by the delay. And I have lost no time in making the necessary preparations for landing without notice being given to this Government till the 6th instant.

As this is not the first instance in which the Crown Agents have sent Stores to the Colony without a letter and duplicate bill of lading, by the vessel conveying them, I have directed a communication to be made to them requesting in future that this omission may be rectified, bringing the Stamps Ordinance into operation, and as this Government has retained a right to the greater portion of the Quarters occupied by Mr Mitchell, the Postmaster General,
