I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch dated 23 Sept recommending that Dr Murray the Colonial Surgeon should be allowed to accept a Directorship in the Island Company and also in the Union Dock Company.
But in reply I have to inform you that I doubt the expediency of sanctioning this under the restriction of this kind.
I am unable to approve of your recommendation that I am of opinion putting offices...
