At the same time I have informed him that I am not prepared to recommend any further indulgence in his case, and I may add that I am greatly induced to recommend Your Grace's approval of his acceptance of a share in the management of the Union Dock Company, because on grounds of Public Policy it is extremely desirable that the half completed Docks of that Company at the other side of the harbour should be early finished. The Shareholders are of opinion that adding to the Directors a gentleman able to grapple with the difficulties of mismanagement which it is supposed have hitherto retarded the completion of the Dock, is the most efficacious mode of bringing that important undertaking to a successful issue.
