With reference to your Despatch No.367/67 of the 23rd September last pertaining to the provisional appointment of Mr. William Keswick to be a Member of the Legislative Council of the Colony of Hong Kong, I have to acquaint you that, having submitted the name of that Gentleman to the Queen in Council, Her Majesty has been pleased to approve his appointment.

I transmit to you herewith a Warrant, under the Royal Sign Manual, authorizing you to appoint Mr. Keswick to a seat in that Council accordingly.

1 January was corrected to 8th January, but a date 1 January 1888 is detected in original text, it seems to be OCR error.
