beg to call attention to the views which I expressed in my Despatch No. 345 of the 10th August.

The great expense which the Colony would incur in having articles made expressly from plans and specifications forwarded from here was pointed out, and as Mr. Bird will, in all probability, have by this time communicated with Mr. Rawlinson, I again hesitate to furnish special directions which might, perhaps, unnecessarily prove very costly in their carrying out.

I would, therefore, with Your Grace's permission, prefer leaving the matter in the hands of Mr. Rawlinson, who will be able, with the assistance of Mr. Bird's local knowledge, to make arrangements for supplying the Colony with all that is required at a less expenditure than could be otherwise effected.
