For some months past
Mr Quin has been seriously ill, and the occasional and temporary leaves of absence, of which he has with difficulty availed himself, do not appear to have done him such good as might enable him to continue the duties of his Office.
He has, however, notwithstanding the disabilities under which he has labored, to the best of his abilities attended at his post, until at last he has been compelled to apply for leave to absent himself for a further period.
3. The Colonial Surgeon reporting on the case has stated that in his opinion Mr. Quin could not recruit his health properly except under twelve months' total release from his duties.
4. Mr. A. Quin draws a salary of £250 per annum as Clerk and Accountant in the Police Department, a salary, which I need hardly remark, is barely sufficient for his most necessary expenses, and leaves no margin for saving, so that it is out of the question to hope he can return to duty.
