It may be interesting to Your Grace to learn that my appeal to the Community has resulted in raising a subscription of about 1500 dollars, which amount will suffice to pay the expenses incurred by the Annamites previous to their admission to the Gaol, and also to charter a French Barque to take them back to their country, from which place they are to embark this day.
3. I enclose further depositions of the Annamites taken by the Registrar General, confirming previous accounts of the cruel treatment which they had met at Macao to induce them to consent to sign Contracts as Emigrants to the Havana.
4. The Governor of Macao's Aide-de-Camp, Capt. Albuquerque, being here on business, I was anxious that he should have an opportunity of cross-examining the Annamites on the most important points in their depositions.
