Special Report of Piracy

Hai a Lai, Captain on board the "Rum Chun" trading junk belonging to Chin Chew, having a cargo on board consisting of 400 reams China paper, 100 baskets China cloth and $1000 in Silver - reports that on the 10th ultimo he left Hongkong bound to Sing Sai. When sailing off "Check Hoi" on the west coast at about 10 p.m. on the 13th ultimo he was attacked by two large piratical junks who fired several cannon shots, which were returned by Informant's junk and kept up about 2 hours.
