5. Reverting now to the enclosed Piracy Reports, I have the honor to transmit an analysis of them considered by the Acting Superintendent of Police, according to a form, which I have directed, and which gives succinctly a clear view of the most important points connected with such cases.
6. The cases for the nine months amount to only a number, which formerly would have appeared large, but if compared equally, although in the first 3 Quarters of last year, six Foreign vessels had been attacked by Pirates - and several brutal murders committed on Englishmen and other foreigners, the enclosed reports for the subsequent three Quarters show not even one instance of the Pirates venturing to attack a Foreign vessel. Their recent attempts have generally been made on small native craft.
7. Of the 21 Cases reported, two are described as merely attempts, and one is considered a false report.
9. Out of the remaining cases, it is also to be noted that in 10 Cases, the action taken thereon for recapture of property, destruction of the Pirate ... had been followed.
