on the ground of ill health. It is most unfortunate for the Colony to be deprived of the services of two of its best Officers, Mr Sauncefote and Mr Rennie, at the same time; and no doubt the Executive is greatly weakened thereby, but I need scarcely say that the Governor granting Mr Sauncefote's leave of absence was under the circumstances an unavoidable necessity.

Mr. Pauncefote, who is somewhat better than he was when he went back, is himself in hopes that he may be able to return here in a few weeks, long before the termination of his leave; but the Medical men are not inclined to think that he can do so
